There's the option to buy it, but I think 10 is a bit much.

You know, all this talk about 45 slots vs. 20, the number of slots a character can hold is going to increase a little after this update too, right?

Last I checked, the new armor/weapon bag that we get to use was going to have five to twenty extra slots for holding things. Assuming we don't have to hold customized items from that character, that boosts the number of slots on a character to 45 unspecific spaces + 20 weapons or armor pieces, and also a weapon and offhand in the carrying slots that everyone is leaving out.

The total of slots that a character can have post update will be more like 67 than 45.

"Convenience" is a stupid excuse already. That's like.. You can go to x and buy y for $n, or you can stay home, pay double, and only get one third of y instead."

I'm one of the minority voting for "I'd pay $5 or $10 - I don't care which".

Extra storage has been #1 on the frequently wished list since inception. Time after time there have been people saying "I'd happily pay for extra storage" - well, here you go. Ante up, ingrates

put it this way for 10 bucks youcan geta extra toon slot which holds more then double what a tab does it doesnt make sence, yes i dont mind paying for it but 10 bucks for 20 slots is way to much buying a extra toon slot would be way better . they should make tabs hold 50 items for the extra tabs and the ones we get free should be 20 spaces. i would then pay 10 bucks per tab.

if they only have 10 spaces 5 dollars would be fine by me

and one more thing there giving toons a extra bag so its not 45 for a toon it will be 65

You know, I was thinking... Maybe they're just going to see how much money they can get from their ignorantly loyal fans - you know, the ones that will purchase the storage panes regardless of the price being ridiculous. Then, after they can't sell anymore, then they'll lower the cost and of course not refund the ignorantly loyal fans.

That way, they take into consideration that some people will be loyal to a level of stupidity that defies all reason, and maximize profits off of them before coming down to reality and putting the price at a reasonable level.

But, before they lower the price, they'll probably have that promotion where you buy something and you get one tab "FREE;" of course, I don't know the amount of stuff they'd want us to buy.. If they had it set at one tab, perhaps they'd get the crowd that wanted $5 tabs. But, if they were going to lower the price to $5 anyway, then that doesn't make sense, so maybe it's 2 purchases instead. Or maybe, maybe they aren't going to lower the price at all, and just want to milk the second group of people that aren't ignorantly loyal but are willing to pay $5 for a storage pane rather than $10. That way, with their "promotion" they get $10 from them too.

Hm.. I'll have to work on that "evil bloodsucking vampire" approach. Looking rather promising so far though...

*shrug* By all means though, be ignorantly loyal and give them your money. I'll continue to ponder on what their scheme is...

You mean "typical Guru". We'll see if the "GW community" feels the same when/if they buy the add-ons.

1.) Because of "Hell no!". The box sais "Online Gaming with no fees" thats the game i bought, this may actualy be illegal here in Holland.
2.) In Holland, we dont use Creditcards like happens in the US. Only a small portion of users here can make use of the on-line shop.

So, they basicaly charging for something we can not buy.

I did just what you said and I figure that my cost/days played = $.15 per day.
Tell me where the problem is?

EDIT: Cable TV $3.00 a day
DSL $1.25 a day
Phone $2.00 a day

And... there are still no fees. They're not asking you to pay for the full update. They're charging for an optional extra. It's like buying character slots - or is that illegal too?

So anyone who buys storage is "ignorantly loyal". Hilarious, in a pathetic kind of way.

I'll buy storage. I've always been willing to pay for it, and now it's here: I certainly will.

I could buy character slots instead but I won't. Because I want the luxury and convenience of stuff on hand, without changing characters. And I'm prepared to pay for that luxury and convenience. I don't care if it's the highest number of slots per dollar or not.

Boycott? To shave a dollar or two off the price? Pfft, no way. Just gimme the storage already.

Shouldn't the last option in this poll be: "I couldn't care less..."

QQ moar ?

/notsigned. I'm with this post. I'll be watching the website for how to get the free storage pane during the "promotion." I'm betting a multi-campaign xunlai quest.

And the equipment bags alone, for each character, will dramatically alter the storage situation. Just getting weps and armors out of storage and off of mules improves my ability to store things and to play the games.

On a side note...I still need a library for all these damn handbooks and tomes.

/not signed. It's an option you don't need to play the game just like character slots and with the equipment packs which we are getting for free we are all getting something extra anyway.

It costs Anet money anyway to store all our stuff on their servers and maintain it so it's only fair that we pay extra for something that is an addition that is not needed to play the game.

Just to rectify the person who I quoted:
In the Netherlands it is not harder to get a credit card as long as you're over 18. I got one for free with my student account, just to give you an example.

The idea that charging people for storage would be illegal is also completely absurd. The game has no monthly fees and still doesn't.

If you are upset about it cause you want everything for free, well, that's fair enough but please don't try to reinforce it with incorrect statements.

I love NOT having to search mules for that I know is somewhere on one of them, if can get to faster/easier, I am willing to pay for it.

Doesn't mean I have to buy all the tabs either, just what is needed.

Also means that I will get my slots back to make another char. or use the one already made.

Free additional storage panes (exc. the free inventory bags and pane) costs additional sums of money and resources for them to maintain. Although I am very stingy with my cash and not planning to purchase it, I still see this as a fair trade.

Word. I'm don't actually get why anyone thought that the extra storage was going to be free, I don't know how many times I've seen people suggest that A-Net offer extra storage in the online store. I don't plan to buy any because I think $10 is too much for 20 storage slots in the bank, but I don't begrudge A-Net giving people the option to do so if they wish.

I'm happy they're giving us an extra slot for an equipment pack, even if I have to spend my "hard earned" in-game gold to actually buy the pack. I can't imagine it's going to cost 100k + 50 ectos. If the equipment pack has 20 slots I can clear up an entire pane in my bank just putting my main's armor and weapons in her equipment pack. The character's who don't have masses of crap to haul around can hold the weaps that I haven't decided what to do with yet. Now I'll have lots of room in the bank to hold all my holiday booze/sweet collectibles. So consider me satisfied with the storage update. :P

Hard drives are cheap and storing ints doesn't take much space. This is about ANET wanting to make money, not needing it to cover costs. Which is fine by me, but I'm not paying $10 for a tiny upgrade I needed three years ago.

If ANET thinks that's the best price point, though, more power to 'em.
